The 18 best coffee roasters in Cape May (2024)

The Inn of Cape May is a Victorian-era hotel with a pool, dining and breakfast, as well as ocean views. It offers upscale American food in a Victorian-style setting. Fido is welcome at one of their pet-friendly outdoor tables.

Nice little cozy inn! We were greeted by Marie, and she was very welcoming and kind. The rooms are small and Victorian style, the decoration is minimalist and it is all very simple but incredibly comfortable! The inn is very tighty and clean. It is also located in front of the beach, and it is right next to Beach Avenue, so you have lots of fun options and small business to explore. The breakfast felt luxurious when sitting in the porch... and the decoration takes you back a few centuries, besides the building being beautiful from the outside. Unfortunately we didn't have enough time to explore the town, but The Inn of Cape May made our stay enjoyable!

We had a nice time at the Inn at Cape May. The service was nice and friendly. Our room was updated, while keeping the original Victorian charm. The hotel was very clean and in the perfect location. The happy hour was nice and drinks/ live music were great! Pool was a huge plus!!!

I am wildly disappointed with the changes of the infamous, “Inn of Cape May.” My husband and I had been going there for over ten years prior to the change, multiple times a summer. We recent stopped for lunch on a Friday afternoon and it was Absolutely empty. That says it all to me. We should have left. The service was atrocious, no bartender so we waited for 25 minutes for a drink, the food was incredibly slow to come out, and the server was unapologetic for the mishaps. The management literally doesn’t care and is no where to be seen. We have stayed here twice since the new owners and we will unfortunately never come back. It is missing its old charm and homey feeling that made it so special. They also delete bad comments from their Instagram and the manager and owners ONLY comment here on good posts. How do they expect to run a business this way? So crazy to me. It is not luxury other than some rooms you can see the ocean from.

You’re staying in a giant home built in the 1800s. If you can enjoy that mentality then everything is amazing. We were on the top floor and we hiked up the creeky wooden steps once just for the experience. An old small employee operated elevator was used for the rest, and when we required anything, they were immediate to respond with true professionalism. Breakfast was excellent and the accommodations were perfect. We will stay there again.

This is a highly original Victorian sea side inn, and some will be put off by the size and shape of the rooms, thus our 3 star rating ;however, the daily rate is very moderate. Also of note, high quality towels , linens and mattresses more than compensate for room size . The hotel is well staffed, and the hotel is consistently serviced. We dined at the bar and sampled much of the menu....the food is excellent, and portions are more than ample. New decor and upgrades make the public rooms both attractive and reminiscent of the Victorian period. The hotel deserves a loyal patronage, as the architecture and style of such structures require huge investments to keep them in good repair.

Rooms are dirty, Pool is DISGUSTING, AC barely works, manager is rude. They take close up photos of the accommodations for a reason and that's because the rooms are fifthly and old. I understand it's an old hotel but everything is rigged in a gross way. The AC wasn't even on when we arrived so the rooms were 80 degrees and after 6 hours of it being on it only dropped to 76. Sheets were stained and floors were dirty. Water from the faucets is BROWN. The pool had algae growth and was full of bird poop. Looked as if they had never cleaned it. My son got a rash from being in it once. We had a family emergency and had to leave the first day we even arrived, which in hindsight, was a disguised blessing. I understand the no refunds policy but had a question on an unidentified charge on my receipt and the manager's response was: "You left early….there are no refunds for early check-out." He is beyond rude and still never answered my question. I would NEVER book this property again.

First let me say for the Money the rooms are comfortable, yet small, both A.C and Heat work quietly and powerful. You can hear people walking about as well as talking ( it is a old building so you should expect it)You get 11.00 voucher for breakfast. This is what my biggest disappointment was. I ordered the Belgian Waffle 13.00. 1st it was hard, dry, cool ( butter would not have melted) the whipped cream is not real and should not be served. I returned it, next one was fresher, warm comparable to the kind you make at a Holiday Inn breakfast buffet. My husband ordered Eggs Benedict with side salad (?) 14.00. Sounds good right! This was served on English Muffin very lightly toasted with a 1 ounce piece of ham on each side, the egg was just enough to cover the " baby ham". The 1 hollandaise sauce was tasty ( like that you can make at home) nothing special and just enough to cover the egg and " baby ham". I was not impressed with the food to say the least. If you are a establishment in a ocean town during the off season your food should be above Par, considering your guests are not there for summer entertainment. Maybe their Chef took time off! He certainly was not on his/ her A game. I would recommend if you come here. Stick with something simple like a Baked pastry, scrabble eggs & toast perhaps.. Now for the wait staff for breakfast she was very pleasant.

The website lies. This is NOT a luxury hotel. My husband and I had an ocean suite; it was not a suite. The floors are cheap - the outlets don’t all work. There are tvs in our room but the hotel says there is no tv so it is lazy to keep them up. No luxury linens or towels. For the price, I expected so much more and not have to pay extra for a mini fridge. Give me a break. The food for lunch is excellent and drinks on the patio it refreshing. The location is key and what you are paying for… The hotel lobby has not mismatched furniture, the rug on the stairs is old and dirty with stains. The hotel has no identity with mismatched furniture, old decor. This place needs a lot of work. The beach chairs and umbrella was included in the price, which was a great bonus…the refrig should have been too

My husband and I just stayed at the Inn this past weekend and we honestly had a great experience! I was a little nervous based on some recent negative reviews, so I wanted to set the record straight. This is an old Victorian hotel which the new owners have been updating. It has more of a modern coastal vibe now in the decor and they did a great job in the lobby, porch, & restaurant! Every single employee we encountered, from the parking attendant to the front desk was so friendly & eager to help. The hotel is in an ideal location- we walked everywhere! We arrived early, our room was not ready as we expected but we were able to use the pool & got our beach badges so we were grateful for that! Now on to the rooms which I think has been getting the most negative feedback. We booked a King Ocean View, which is exactly what we got. Our room was updated as shown in the pictures, great AC unit, and very comfortable bed. Yes- there was no TV or coffee maker. But I personally did not feel I needed this, we barely spent any time in the room. The bathroom didn’t appear to get the same updates as the room- just some extra white paint on everything (even the door knobs?) My only critiques would be to add some extra hooks in the bathroom for towels, and maybe some blackout curtains to help with the sunlight in the morning. But otherwise, the bathroom was functional with good water pressure.Overall- we would definitely stay here again!

This past week our families came together at The Inn of Cape May to celebrate the wedding of our daughter. It was the wedding of her dreams and the staff at the Inn were a big part of that. Upon booking the event we have been treated like family who cared that every detail was given their full attention. The wedding weekend we felt as if we had a new extended family that shared in our love and joy while working tirelessly in the background. We would recommend the Inn of Cape May with all our hearts.A very special thanks to Jill and Jeri AnnYou are the best at what you do!❤️

We have been coming here for 10 years. This is the first year we have come in contact with Racist Stan. He was guarding the parking lot . We had to go to our car to get a jacket for my son he was cold and we were met with him staring at us. Then he proceeded to walk to our car and harass us and asked us if we were going to the hotel. I said yes we have reservations. He told me and I quote, he said, “I am always right “ he also told us we needed to move our car even though we had reservations there. Such a nasty old man to speak like that to us. What has happened to The Inn of Cape May. I don’t think my family and I will be back here. We will be staying at Congress Hall from now on much more kind not getting treated like the way Stan treated us. The parking attendant at Congress Hall was more in the Christmas spirit. Stan needs to retire and save his unhappiness for himself. Such a sad experience for my children to witness this kind of racism towards a family coming to The Inn of Cape May for the holidays and sharing the Christmas spirit as a tradition we having been doing for more than a decade. It’s very disheartening that I needed to write this review for a bad apple that The Inn of Cape May has trusted their grounds with . Very unhappy unprofessional man to say the least. Merry Christmas !! Hopefully, Racist Stan finds kindness and love in his heart this beautiful Christmas season.

This was one of our best vacations! I cannot wait to go back. This staff is amazing especially Dodo. It was beautifully decorated for the holidays and the rooms were very spacious and clean. The bed was one of the most comfortable I've ever slept in. If I had to say one thing that was negative it would be that since we were the only guests in the hotel it would have been nicer if we had a room where we could see the beach instead of looking at the buildings next door. Also as other people have said it would be nice to have better window coverings because the sunlight is very bright and wakes you up very early.

Overall, excellent stay! Rooms exceptionally clean & king bed was super comfortable. Location is perfect. Right across from the beach and also a few blocks from shops and restaurants. Decor pretty… Appears to have recently been done over.. Staff was super accommodating and friendly. My only suggestion for improvement would be to add shelving space in the bathrooms as there is no counter space at all for incidentals.

I don't know where to begin with this review. I am very disappointed.1) Booked the room back in in the beginning of the year at the current rate at that time. Was never notified of any renovation being completed before my stay. I found out by calling and paying my balance. They informed me of a much higher balance then I had on my booking receipt. They explained there was a resort fee added because it is considered a resort. They did take the resort fee off when they realized I had booked before the renovation. So if you are wondering why the rates are higher then you are used to paying, that is why.2) They do not include breakfast but will offer a voucher for $11 off your breakfast. Great I thought. Until I saw the price of their breakfast. Not much of a deal. Not to mention, nothing on the menu was simple. Nothing I would eat anyway.3)Now for the rooms. I myself when coming to Cape May want the feel of a real Victorian experience. You will not get that here. You may think you are by the lobby area. Once in the room you will find bland walls, hardly any decor, one small chair, a chest of drawers and my room had no bedside tables. The bathroom had no table to put toiletries. Oh and let me not forget the huge air and heat unit that was above the bed and was so loud it was very hard to sleep.Another great charm about my room, is it came equipped with its only handyman still completing construction. With a huge gaping hole in the ceiling.4)I hope you don't mind steps because you will climb many to get to your room. The elevator can only be operated by an employee and not much room to fit anything. But it is cool that it is still operational.5) I can give props to the staff. They were friendly and helpful.

Please note that this review is for the Agatha Christie Dinner theater event, not the hotel itself.1.) Our server was quite possibly the worst ever. I am honestly concerned that she was either ill or otherwise impaired. She dropped a full tray of drinks on a poor man sitting at the next table. She couldn’t remember how many soups/salads for a group of 5 for even 30 seconds. She had to come back and ask us several times, and then still messed it up. We ordered 2 co*cktails that never came until we finally flagged another server to ask for them. (Despite reminding our server 3 times!) She messed up the entrees as well.2.) The menu. There was none. We were asked “do you want chicken, short ribs, or salmon”. No idea how they were to be prepared, what sides, etc.3.) The apps. They were overcooked spring rolls, potstickers, and co*cktail wieners in puff pastry. Plus, there were no plates to eat them on.4.) The food. This was the one bright spot. I had the short ribs, and they were prepared very nicely! This is the reason for the star!5.) The entertainment. The “first act” consisted of a woman singing a bunch of songs then pretending to shoot her musical accompaniment. This went on way too long. The second act/main event? I can’t tell you. We were 2 hours in at this point, and had enough so we all just left. Maybe it was good… I’ll never know.

We have been coming to Cape May for 14 years and finally stayed here! It didn't disappoint! Clean rooms, comfy beds...and lots of towels! The entire staff was wonderful to us! Very accommodating! And the food was fabulous! Close to shopping and restaurants.

This hotel itself is a beautiful Victorian style building. I was hoping for the price we paid it would keep that old style feel with luxury updates but some things fell short. The bathroom door never fully closed, but you could wedge it shut and use your body weight to open it (not something I was expecting to do for the nightly rate it was priced for). The water pressure was frustratingly low and it felt like it took twice as long to take a shower. They were using coffee coaster trash to keep the shower window closed since I guess it doesn't fit snug without the trash. The free rental chairs we used on the beach were convenient minus the red dye from the chair turning my backside bright red. To end on some good notes: the staff was always friendly, we had dinner at ocean 7 and it was great. The bed was comfy and the ac unit worked amazing over the hot weekend. You can't get a better location being right across from the beach and a 5 minute walk to the shops.

We spontaneously booked a night at the Inn for 2 couples. The Inn is a beautiful Victorian hotel with gorgeous public spaces( porches bar restaurant lawn with fire tables and lobby). The rooms were charming and cozy. The beds were very comfortable with wonderful linens. The staff was fabulous! Kind, friendly and helpful. Jill is a great ambassador for the inn and a pleasure to talk to. We will definitely make this our go to place in Cape May and look forward to returning!

We lived in Cape May for 35 years but sold our home there during the fake pandemic. We went back last week to visit and stayed at the Inn of Cape May. What an absolute delight! The check in hostesses were so courteous and the restaurant staff were delightful. We had breakfast every morning greeted by Michelle with coffee and a delicious filling breakfast. The room was so quaint reminding us of the Cape May we knew when we first arrived in the early sixties. Anyone who wants experience the old Cape May should stay here. The warm fire greeted us every night when we arrived “home!” We stayed five nights and what five nights they were: cozy, hospitable and genuine. Thanks for a great getaway back home.

Probably should have expected the poor rooms but there was minimal hotel availability for a one night stay in January. The staff was very nice and the location was great but the room was tiny and very sparsely finished (not even any nightstands). Really seems like they didn’t want to invest anything to make the rooms nice. In addition, they stop serving breakfast before noon on Sundays. The schedule indicated that they served breakfast until 12 but when we got there at 11:55 they were only serving lunch.

Had a great night at the Inn of Cape May! We did one night in the corner King room on the second floor. I am so happy they have kept many of the architectural details of this hotel while making it more comfortable for modern guests, this is why we come to Cape May. The room was immaculately clean and the view of the ocean and the morning light from the three large windows in this corner room were spectacular! We also got vouchers for breakfast included in our stay- since it was off-season and midweek the restaurant was closed but they offered coffee and a limited breakfast menu in the restaurant area. Unfortunately we had to miss buck-a-shuck oyster night in the bar that they have on Tuesdays because we had reservations elsewhere but we will be back to try it next time! To sum it up, if you are looking for all the bells and whistles of a modern hotel room this may not be the place for you, but if you want a real Victorian hotel experience you will love this hotel!

The history of this place is so cool! If you're a fan of Victorian architecture and fantasize about being a rich, vacationing New Yorker -- this is the right place. The decor provides a cozy yet posh backdrop and stays true to its prime period while incorporating contemporary elements. Lots of great details and craftsmanship. One thing to note is that there are quiet hours due to walls being old/thin. The attached restaurant has great reviews and the porch / outdoor seating looks right out to the beach.

We had a wonderful stay at the inn of cape may! The location was perfect ! It’s right on the beach and walkable to all the shops and restaurants. The lobby was beautifully decorated and very cozy. The staff was so friendly and they gave my children kites and frisbees to use on the beach at check in. The beds were comfortable and clean. We will definitely be back!

The staff at the Inn of Cape May are phenomenal. Honestly! The staff learns your name and use it when addressing you. They are friendly, outgoing, caring and attentive, In particular, Jason and Elijah worked very hard to take care of us and to be sure we were comfortable. And the bartenders were just as good. Thank you for making our weekend special!

I understand building is over a hundred yrs old but I feel they use that as an excuse for poor maintenance. Rooms were not comfortable at all. No where to really sit and three people in their so called suite was a stretch. Blinds on windows were broken. Bar closed before 10pm on a sat evening during the jazz festival. Last year the place was jumping during the festival hardly anyone there this year.

Fabulous location and clean, big rooms! Such a cool blast from the past with the upgrades they've done but with "keeping the history". The elevator is how ALL elevators should look, complete with a 1900s chandelier. The bar at Ocean 7 also has great co*cktails.

The Inn is so quaint, and picture perfect for Cape May. The restaurant was excellent, and the service, at both the restaurant, and at the front desk, was a 10 out of 10!! There was not a single request that went unfulfilled, and they even went over and beyond. I will be staying with them again, in the very near future

The Inn of Cape May was a beautiful place for a quick getaway for my husband and I. We enjoyed the room, the outdoor bar area and the location was great. Staff was kind, friendly and offered a few places to check out. Would highly recommend! Will definitely plan another stay here.

We had a wonderful time at the lovely Inn at Cape May. It has history, character and personality. The fire place in the lobby was warm and welcoming. The staff was friendly and helpful. I felt like a guest in someone's home rather than the feeling of being in a hotel. Will definitely stay again if in Cape May.

After vacationing in Cape May for over 20 years and staying at various hotels / condos, I thought I had found a great place. Across the street from the beach and short walk to the Washington Street mall and some of our favorite restaurants. Room set up was ideal for traveling with teens - 2 rooms with a king in one room, and 2 twins in the other. The problems started our first night. The outdated AC system was extremely loud, and did not cool either room. Despite daytime temps in the 70s, our third floor room was loud and stuffy all night. The second night we went to CVS to purchase a box fan, ear plugs, and Zzquil, but still struggled to get any sleep. We checked out early before our third night to start the long drive home. The real surprise was the $150 bill for a broken mirror and blinds. There was an old, cheap, framed full length mirror screwed to the back of the bathroom door (the kind you can buy for $10 at Lowe’s) which broke when one of my kids pushed the bathroom door closed. It requires some force to close the door due to many layers of paint. But the blinds??? We had to keep our windows open at night with a box fan that WE PURCHASED, AND LEFT AT YOUR HOTEL FOR FUTURE GUESTS, BECAUSE YOUR AIR CONDITIONING DOESN'T WORK AND YOUR FRONT DESK HAD NO FANS TO PROVIDE US!!! We didn’t break any blinds. In fact, we weren’t even able to raise or lower the blinds in one of the room bc they are old!!I understand that this is an old hotel. That’s the reason why I didn’t complain to your front desk or request a partial refund for leaving early. But $150 for a broken $10 mirror, and blinds which DID NOT WORK BEFORE WE ARRIVED! That’s a scam. Please call me back and resolve this.
