Almost beat former NBA legend Antonio Harvey yesterday. Here's the story...I'm back in Portland visiting family for the week and I got asked if I wanted to coach my 6th grade brothers basketball team for their tournament. The answer of course was a resounding "HECK YES I DO"My 3 rules for the kids... We're going to:- Play harder than every team - Smile with our head up every time we make a mistakeAnd most importantly:- Have more fun than every other team After losing a nail biter of a first game, I was watching our second opponent warm up and one of their kids looked abnormally large for a 6th grader. It made a lot more sense when I saw his 6'11 dad coaching next to me. Sheesh. Incredibly defensive back and forth game. (6th graders are unfortunately not great at putting the ball in the hoop)We were up by 2 with 10 seconds left and they hit an incredibly lucky banked in 3 to take the lead (it was perfect defense and no, he did not call bank 🫠)We tried to push the ball and it ended up getting tipped about of bounds with one second left. I called timeout and drew up a perfect play. The play worked to perfection and we got the open look we wanted for win, shot goes up for the win and..... off the rim, no good. We lose by 1. Bummer. After the game, my mom runs up to me and goes danggg you were so close to beating Antonio Harvey. EXCUSE ME WHAT?! THAT WAS ANTONIO HARVEY?!I chase him down to grab a picture and joke with him about it. Super cool guy.And that is how I almost beat former NBA legend Antonio Harvey. PS, I'm not short, he's just really f***ing tall

Shocker incoming.....We had another great turnout this week for tech community pickleball! 🫨Not only did an early morning during tech week NOT deter people from showing up in force this morning, but it was our best turnout ever! It's simple. People want a community they can feel welcomed into and meet new people without the pressures of forced awkward social connection that happens at your standard networking events. Enter, weekly tech community pickleball. John DiLoreto, as always, it's a pleasure to co-host with you and Penguin AI. Can't wait to be back in 2 weeks 😉 I miss it so badly Ps, want to see what it's all about?? Sign up in the comments 👇

Here's what an awful travel experience taught me about B2B Tech Sales. 1. When others sit and cry about their dilemma, you act and find an alternative solution.- Instead of accepting defeat and staying in Colorado Springs when you get screwed by the 12 hour rule, take a deep breath and figure out another way- Even if that involves sketchy "taxis" and sleeping in airports- When others zig, you zag2. Good things happen when you start talking to random people.- People are generally helpful if you're respectful and kind- Charles and Steve are true salt of the earth heroes of random humans- Having other people help you solve your problems is better than flying solo3. Control the controllables - Most things in this world are out of your control, that's just the way it is- There's only 2 things you can actually control: attitude + effort- A good attitude and relentless effort will take you farther than mostWhat does that have to do with tech sales? Probably nothing but it was a good headline and I'm still raveling about how insane my last 48 hours were. PS, no idea what I'm talking about? Read my insane travel story here:https://lnkd.in/gNFpWzRB

What is the most insane travel story experience you’ve ever had? Whatever it is, I’m pretty sure I’ve got you beat. Here’s how me and my 12 year old brother spent the last 48 hours. First, a few things to set the stage:- We were in Dallas with family for a celebration of life- There were extreme thunderstorms and weather in Dallas all weekend - Our mom and my stepdad flew back early Sunday morning - Levi (little brother) wanted to stay longer on Sunday and see his cousins he rarely gets to see- Me trying to be a good brother offer to take him on a later flight on Sunday back to Portland. - There is a federal mandate that flight attendants and pilots legally cannot work for longer than 12 hours at once (who knew? Not me!) Seemed like a harmless decision at the time. What could go wrong? Well, turns out a lot. Chaos ensues. Ready? Let’s go ->Sunday afternoon: we get to the Dallas airport where they tell us due to some mechanical delay from 3 flights earlier our flight will be delayed by 30 minutes. Whatever, no biggie, except for the fact that that delay means the crew will hit their 12 hours and can’t go all the way to Portland so they offer to fly to San Diego, deplane and get a new crew for us and fly us in.Okay that’s superrrr annoying but fine, so be it. Well we get on the plane post delay, get onto the runway getting ready for takeoff and what happens? Extreme thunder, lightning and winds ensue for the next hour, we aren’t allowed to take off! But it’s temporary so that’s okay, right? Wrong, literally we were 5 minutes away from being cleared for takeoff and they let us know that they legally cannot takeoff due to the 12 hour rule and we have to taxi back to the gate and this flight is canceled. So sorry. And that’s the last flight for the night so naturally a mad dash ensues to book new flights. After hours of waiting and dealing with customer service we get booked on a new flight from Dallas -> Denver -> Portland late Monday. We go back to our grandmas house. We’ll try again on Monday. We arrive at the Dallas airport on Monday ready to go. Immediately, we get to the gate and we’re told that the flight at the gate before got rerouted to Austin due to weather. Uh oh, let’s do this again.By the time they get cleared out and our flight to Denver arrives it’s instantly clear that we’re not going to make our connection to Portland, unless we get hit with some stroke of miraculous luck.Well sure enough next thing you know the PA announcer is telling everyone with connecting flights they likely won’t make it except for… wait for it… people with a connection to Portland bcuz… wait for it… the flight going to Portland is the same plane as the one going to Denver, how lucky! That means all we need to do is successfully make it to Denver and we’re in the clear. Whoops, spoke too soon.STORY IS TOO LONG CONTINUED IN THE COMMENTS IT ONLY GETS BETTER I PROMISE

"A man is only as good as his tools."I don't want you to just have good tools. I want you to have great tools. Recently, Tem put together a massive list of 51 modern collaboration, productivity & management tools. Each tool comes with setup/usage instructions and tips so that anyone new (or current) at your company can quickly get up to speed. This is like the holy grail of new school SaaS toolkits. Or the modern bible leatherman of SaaS tools. Basically, you're gonna wanna check it out. Reply "tools" (or anything) and I'll send it to ya, Bob the Builder style 🫡PS, Was gonna shoutout the guy who created the tools quote but Google is telling me he's kind of a nobody, who knew 🤷♂️
